Part aquafarm and aquarium, The Aquaponic Fish Tank has a five-plant tray on top that uses hydroponic growstones to enable seeds to germinate and develop a root structure that stays submerged in the plant tray.

"It's a tidy, efficient system," explained Hammacher Schlemmer's General Manager Fred Berns. "Beneficial bacteria convert ammonia-rich fish waste into nutrient-rich water that is delivered to the plant roots constantly with a built-in pump."

The three-gallon acrylic tank holds several small fish; includes organic wheatgrass and basil seeds, beneficial bacteria, gravel, hydroponic growstones, and fish food.
